Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren review

Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most bankable stars in the Tamil film industry at the moment. It is no wonder that directors are keen on casting him. However, there are some films in which Vijay Sethupathi’s role doesn’t help the film move forward. His appearance in the film Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren is one such. Although he has done his part well, the story doesn’t hold your attention and doesn’t succeed at providing any good laughs.

After watching the film one may assume that it seems good as a script but didn’t translate to a good execution on screen. The film revolves around Yaman (Vijay Sethupathi) who is the leader of a tribal village, who has vowed to marry another girl of his tribe, however, the girl and the family have settled in the city. The girl he vows to marry is Sowmiya (Niharika Konidela); however, she has a crush on Harish (Gautham Karthik). A comedy of errors takes place after this, and what happens next forms the rest of the plot.

The film’s strength is probably the quirkiness which it contains. There hasn’t been any new film in which we see the film’s lead in a wacky avatar. And that isn’t restricted to just one. The characters in the film dress up in different ways to pursue their goal, and this is quite funny. However, the laughs don’t last long. The film’s comedy is almost dull, and one realizes that there isn’t black comedy in the film either.

As for the performances, newcomer Niharika fits the bill of a college student well. Gautham Karthik performs well. As for the rest, they do their job well, however, somehow that didn’t bring out the comedy in the scene.
