65th National Film Awards: Fahadh Faasil, A. R. Rahman and Sridevi bag top honors

The Information and Broadcast Ministry announced the 65th National Awards today, which was headed by the acclaimed filmmaker, Skehar Kapoor. The popular filmmaker praised the quality and content provided by the South Indian film industry. And going by the list of winners, we couldn’t agree more.
Malayalam film industry shines
Actor Shekar Kapoor spoke about the special awards by announcing the following statement “special mention award for Malayalam film Take Off and performance by actress Parvathy.” Actress Parvathy who amazed us with her performance in the film Take Off truly deserved this honor, isn’t? The film Thondimuthalam Driksakshiyum won several awards including Best Screenplay (Sajeev Pazhoor). Actor Fahadh Faasil won Best Supporting Actor award for the film. Malayalam Film, Bhayanakam won filmmaker Jayaraj the award for Best Direction and Best Adaptive Screenplay. Singer KJ Yesudas won the award for Best Playback Singer Male for Poyi.
A R Rahman wins most National Awards
A. R. Rahman was announced the winner of two awards at the 65th National Film Awards, making his total tally of six National awards in his kitty, which he has won over the years. He won the award for Best Music Direction for Kaatru Veliyidai and Best Background score for Mom. Shashaa Tirupati won the award for Best Playback Female for Vaan Varuvaan from Kaatru Veliyidai.
The Tamil movie To Let directed by Chezhiyan won the best Tamil film.
Baahubali bags honors
Baahubali: The conclusion won the National award for Best Film for providing wholesome entertainment. It also won the award for Best Special Effects and Best Action Direction. Ghazi Attack starring Rana Daggubati won the award for Best Telugu film.
