Mahanati Box Office

The biopic of late actress Savitri, Mahanati (Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil) released to fantastic reviews earlier last week. From Malayalam icon Mohanlal to Telugu cinema’s megastar Chiranjeevi – everyone was raving about the film. Producer Allu Arvind hosted a success bash for the team of Mahanati earlier on Sunday. Chiranjeevi also met director Nag Ashwin and expressed his interest to star in a biopic directed by him.

Audiences too gave in positive word of mouth, which has helped the film gain over 1.5 million dollars at the box-office. The production house Vyjayanthi Movies took to their official Twitter account to post the news. The image contained the text ‘Even after 40 years Savitramma still rules the Box Office’.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is based on the life and times of Savitri’s life – including her rise to stardom, her brave decision of directing and producing films back in the 60s. The film’s lead actor Keerthy Suresh has been receiving rave reviews for her performance from fans and critics alike. Her uncanny resemblance to Savitri is another value-added element for the film. Dulquer too has been praised for playing the role of her on-screen husband, Gemini Ganesan.

Actor Samantha expressed her happiness as Mahanati, Irumbu Thirai and Rangasthalam have earned her credit if giving hattrick films. Vijay Deverakonda took to Twitter to tell how happy he was to be a small part of the film and thanked his producers for making him a part of the movie.
