Highlights from the trailer launch of 2.0
The trailer launch of director Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth in the lead took place amidst much fanfare in Chennai today.
Nearly 30 minutes into the event, nothing about the film was spoken, as the hosts (RJ Balaji and Paloma) were busy trying to control the crow. Everyone from the camera crew to the fans tried to get a glimpse of Rajinikanth who made his entry. After he entered the auditorium of Sathyam cinemas, photographers surrounded him.
The film’s director was the first key crew member to arrive. Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson soon followed after Rajinikanth. The film’s music director A. R. Rahman arrived in style.
The event began with an exclusive song which was written by late lyric writer Na. Muthukumar.
The trailer was then screened to the audience where in 3D with audio in 4D – an inventive technology that enhances the movie watching experience. The sound engineer Oscar award-winning Resul Pookutty took to the stage to state that it took them over two years to bring this historic moment to life. He said ”4D is one such technology which was essential for the film. In 2.0 there are several scenes which need that intensity and 4D will help enhance it.”
There was a Q and A session for A. R. Rahman also where Anirudh appeared in video to ask him questions. He asked him who his favorite hero is, without hesitation, Rahman said that his favourite hero is Rajinikanth. The reason for it is that he admires him for his simplicity, his perseverance to rise against all odds. Others who asked Akshay and Shankar questions and wished the team includes Director Rajamouli, Kamal Haasan, Kannada actors Shivrajkumar and Upendra, director KS Ravikumar.
The film’s antagonist Akshay Kumar decided to take to the stage to speak in Tamil. He said how happy he is to be a part of this movie. When the film’s lead superstar Rajinikanth began speaking, the crowd became euphoric. He congratulated producer Shubaskran for investing money on a project where Shankar is the captain of the ship.
