The audio launch of director Mani Ratnam‘s new film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam was one of a kind. The reason? Oscar-winning composer took to the stage with his team to perform songs from the film. Although the event began a tad bit late, it started off with a bang, and without any fuss. Singers Chinmayi and Karthik played the perfect hosts for the events. When they quizzed A. R. Rahman about his association with director A. R. Rahman, the soft-spoken music composer said that this film would remind one of Mani Ratnam’s Nayakan days.

Aditi Rao and Arvind Swamy’s confession

The hosts then went on to call the lead actors of the film on stage. The first on-screen pair who went on stage were Aditi Rao Hydari and Arvind Swamy. Aditi Rao stated how lucky she is to star in two of Mani Ratnam’s film, she also said how happy she is that this event took place on Teacher’s day as she considers Mani Ratnam her guru. ”I really feel blessed working with Mani Ratnam sir. I hope I can forever learn from Mani Sir”. Arvind Swamy stated that he has worked with Mani Ratnam in not just six, but eight films.

Arun Vijay’s completes a milestone

The next couple on stage were Arun Vijay and Aishwarya Rajesh. Both the actors shared their excitement of working with Mani Ratnam and A. R. Rahman. Speaking at the event Arun Vijay said how elated he is to have A. R. Rahman composes for his 25th film, while Aishwarya Rajesh said ”Since childhood, I wanted to work with Mani sir, and a film whose music composed is composed by A. R. Rahman”. Arun Vijay also went on to heap praises on Simbu, calling him a very good human being, and how happy he is for him.

Simbu storms off stage

When Dayana Erappa and Simbu came on stage, the crowd erupted with applause and whistles for the latter. However, the usually vocal Simbu, took to the stage to speak minimally. He went on to say ”I normally speak a lot, but today is not going to be that day, today is the day where I just want to thank Mani Ratnam sir” he added ”I will wait for the film to speak for itself”. Soon after which he stormed out of the stage despite Chinmayi requesting him to stay longer. Meanwhile, debutant Dayana Erappa stated how lucky she is to have worked with legends.

Mani Ratnam’s secret of Success

The final speeches were given by Vairamuthu, A. R. Rahman and director Mani Ratnam. National award-winning lyricist, Vairamuthu taught the audience how to pronounce the film’s title, he said ” It’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Don’t leave out ‘etch”’. He also went on to say “People accuse AR Rahman of not appreciating me in public a lot. But I know the respect he has for me in his heart. Mani Ratnam has made a lot of films but to date, his best creation is AR Rahman”.

Speaking about the choice of actors Mani Ratnam said ”A good director has to just pick the right cast and crew and the rest of it will fall into place,”.
