A very happy new year and a happy 2019 to you! The start of the year means equates to new beginnings, and this is a policy followed in the film industry as well. That’s why in January, the first month of 2019, the Tamil and Telugu film industry will start off with a bang! Right from Rajinikanth to Ajith to Ram Charan – it’s going to be a terrific start for films and the audiences. Here’s a look at what’s in store this month.


The biggest movie star of Indian cinema is here to kickstart 2019 with his with Petta. Set to release ahead of Pongal, on 10th January, Petta stars superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj the film will see Rajinikanth will the role of a hostel warden with a dark past. The film marks the Kollywood debut of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Megha Akash, Trisha, Simran and Sasikumar among others.


‘Thala’ Ajith is reportedly set to clash with Rajinikanth, as his film Viswasam is set to release during Pongal. Directed by Siva, this film is set to be a family-entertainer in which Ajith will sport two looks. The film also stars Nayanthara, Robo Shankar, Thambi Ramaiah among others.

F2 – Fun and Frustration

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, F2 – Fun, and Frustration is a fun-comedy starring Tamannaah, Venkatesh, Varun Tej and Mehreen Pirzada. The film is said to be high on entertainment, and it will show the fun and frustrating side to marriages. The song Honey is the Best composed by Devi Sri Prasad has gone Viral.

Vinaya Vidheya Rama

Ram Charan delivered one of 2018’s biggest Telugu hit Rangasthalam. Now, a year later, he is ready with yet another interesting film Vinaya Vidheya Rama. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the trailer of the film shows Ram Charan as the angry young man. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi as the antagonist. It also stars Kiara Advani, Prashanth and Sneha.
