If you thought remakes were a trend of the past, then think again! We bring you 4 Telugu films which are now being remade in Tamil.

Vandha Rajavadhan Varuven

 

Directed by Sundar C starring Simbu in the lead, this film is the remake of the Attarintiki Daredi. Released in 2013, Attarintiki Daredi was directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Starring Pawan Kalyan in the lead, the film told the tale of a man, who decides to unite his grandfather with his estranged daughter. It went on to become one of the highest earring Telugu films. The Tamil version, Vandha Rajavadhan Varuven will release on Pongal 2019.

Varma

Vijay Deverakonda‘s fame reached heights after he played the stubborn, alcoholic, heart-broken surgeon in Arjun Reddy (2017). The film went on to earn big bucks at the box-office and became one of the most popular films in Telugu cinema. Post the success of the film, the remake rights were sold to the Hindi and Tamil film industry. While Shahid Kapoor will team with the film director’s Sandeep Vanga in Hindi, National award-winning director Bala has directed the Tamil version of the film. Title Varma, the film stars Vikram’s son Dhruv and Bengali Model Megha Chowdhury.

Ayogya

A remake of Jr. NTR’s Temper (2015) which was directed Puri Jagannadh, Ayogya stars Vishal in the lead. Directed by Venkat Mohan, the film is said to release early next year. Director Rohit Shetty’s upcoming Bollywood film, Simmba starring Ranveer Singh in the lead is also loosely inspired by Temper. The film told the tale of a corrupt cop, who decides to take law in his hands after his encounter with an incident that shakes him.

100 percent Kaadhal

Released in the year 2011, this was one of Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah‘s first few films in Telugu cinema. Directed by Sukumar, this rom-com told the story of two cousins who fall for each other, however, their constant ego clash leads to their break up. How they reconcile forms the rest of the story. The film is now being remade in Tamil starring G. V. Prakash and Shalini Pandey. The film is directed by Sukumar’s former associate, Chandramouli.
