SIIMA is one of the biggest awards, show which awards the brightest and most talents stars of Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil cinema industry. What’s more? SIIMA does so on a global platform. Last year, SIIMA 2017, took place in Abu Dhabi, and the two-day event was a big success. While the first day started off with awards to Telugu and Kannada films, the second day was about Malayalam and Tamil films. While Jr NTR won the award for Best Actor for ‘Janatha Garage’, Rakul Preet won Best Actress for Nannaku Prematho. Although we missed seeing Mammootty and Mohanlal attend the event together, Mohanlal made his presence felt on day 2, where he also bagged the honour for Best Actor for Puli Murugan. In Tamil, Sivakarthikeyan bagged the award for Best Actor for his role in Remo, while Trisha bagged the award for her role in Kodi in the category Best Actress in a Negative role.
The event was incomplete without the scintillating performances of actors including Nani, Rana Daggubati, Regina Cassandra, and Akhil. The highlight of the awards show was the presence of Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif who attended the show to promote their film Jagga Jasoos. However, the highlight of the event was when Ranbir wore a lungi and managed to take dance lessons from Rana Daggubati, R Madhavan, and Nivin Pauly. Veteran singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam was felicitated with the lifetime achievement award, while Nayanthara was awarded the Best Actress for her work in Tamil and Malayalam films.
