From Tamil’s 96 to Kannada’s KGF – Here’s who won big at the Filmfare Awards South 2019

Tamil film 96, Kannada film YGF, Malayalam film Ee. Ma. Yau and Telugu film Rangasthalam won big at the Filmfare awards South 2019. Held at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the event was glitzy and glamours.
Tamil
Tamil film 96, fetched Trisha and Vijay Sethupathi award for Best Actors, while Govind Vasanth won the award for Best music director and Chinmayi won the award for best singer. Dhanush won the award for Best actor for his film for Vada Chennai. Aishwarya Rajesh won the Critics Choice Best Actress for Kanna, while Aravind Swamy won the Critics Choice best actor award for the film Chekka Chevinda Vaanam. India’s most watched music video ‘Rowdy Baby’ won the award for Best Choreography.
Malayalam
Sudani From Nigeria won the award for Best Film award, while director Lijo Jose Pellissery won Best Director for the same. Vinayakan’s performance in Ee.Ma.Yau won him the award for Best Actor in a supporting role. Joju George took home the award for Best Actor for his role in Joseph. Manju Warrier won it for Aami. Actor Soubin Shahir won the Critics Award for Best Actor (male) for his role in Sudani From Nigeria while Nimisha Sajayan won it for Eeda.
Telugu
Rangasthalam fetched the maximum awards. Ram Charan won the award for Best Actor, Anasuya won the award for Best Supporting Role (female), Devi Sri Prasad for Best Music Album. The award for Best lyricist went to Chandra Bose for the song ‘Entha Sakkagunnavey’, while Rathnavelu won the award for Best Cinematography.
Mahanadi, the biopic on late actress Savitri, fetched Nag Ashwin the award for Best Director, while Keerthy Suresh who won the National Award for her role in the film, took away the award for Best Actress.
Kannada
Mansore won the award for Best Director Nathicharami. Yash starrer KGF won the Best Film Award. It also won Yash the award for Best Actor, Nathicharami’s lead Sruthi Hariharan won the Critics Award for Best Actor (female). Sathish Ninasam won the Critics Award for Best Actor (male) for his role in Ayogya. The award for Best Playback Singer (female) was won by Bindhumalini for ‘Bhaavalokada’ in Nathicharami
