In a rare event of sorts, superstar Rajinikanth is all set to make his television appearance for an interview. The interview will telecast on Zee Tamil on Diwali, and it will be to promote his film 2 Point 0 (2.0) which is the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran. The details as to who will interview him are yet to be disclosed. Considering that Rajinikanth almost-never appears for promotions of his film, the news of his interview has taken fans by surprise. The last time Rajinikanth made his presence for an interview it was for his film Kochadaiyaan, actor Vivekh was the interviewer. Here are three times Rajinikanth has appeared for interviews.
1. When Radikaa Sarathkumar interviewed Rajinikanth
When actress Radikaa Sarathkumar interviewed Rajinikanth in the early 90s’, he was asked about his association with producer AV. Meiyappan. His productions house touted today’s biggest superstars banner Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. In the video, he was seen speaking about his hit film Murattu Kaalai, his last film with AVM when the producer was alive.
2. When Suv TV interviewed Rajinikanth
This was Rajinikanth’s first television appearance to promote his film Enthiran (2010). When anchor Vijayasarathy quizzed him about how director Shankar approached him with film he said ”Shankar first approached me after he made Indian. He had three scripts. One was Sivaji, the other was Enthiran and then there was a script about a man having a hunchback. I didn’t accept Enthiran, I thought I would not suit the role. But years later he approached me again and he convinced me”. The hunchback role he is talking about is probably the film ‘I’.
3. When Vivekh interviewed Rajinikanth
For promotions of his film Kochadaiyaan, which was directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, he appeared for an interview where actor Vivekh was the interviewer. He spoke about how his health deteriorated when K. S. Ravikumar and him began working on a period film, and that he could not shoot for nearly 2 years because of this. He said ‘‘After this K .S. Ravikumar suggested we work on a film that involves motion-capture technology, then Soundarya Rajinikanth came on board to direct it”.
Directed by Shankar, 2.0 is the sequel to Enthiran. Apart from Rajinikanth the film stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson as well. The music has been composed by A. R. Rahman.
