6 South Indian actors who have spoken about Me Too movement

There is a new storm that’s hitting social media and it is the #MeToo movement. Women are sharing their horror stories of dealing with harassment and sexual assault from colleagues or people in powerful positions their workplace. In a brave move, established singer Chinmayi took to her Twitter page to expose National award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu. What followed next line of tweets in support of the singer. These are the celebrities supporting the movement.
1. Chinmayi
As mentioned previously, Chinamayi took to her social media to share her personal experiences of Vairamuthu’s sexual misconduct. Since she has witnessed it herself, she went on to retweet details about other celebrities including singer Karthik. She is currently challenged by Vairamuthu to prove the allegations in court.
2. Samantha
Samantha took to her Twitter to say that she supports this movement and proved her sisterhood. She took to say that she stands up Chinmayi and Rahul who she has known for over 10 years. She said ”I am so happy that more and more women are finding the strength to say #MeToo. Your bravery is commendable. I am sorry though that some people, even other women themselves will shame and burden you with the question of proof and doubt”.

3. Aditi Rao Hydari
Actress Aditi Rao Hydari had a different take on the strong movement by calling out hypocrisy. In her Tweet she said ”Slow clap for the dizzying heights of hypocrisy… People who are clearly guilty of major harassment giving gyaan on the #MeTooIndia movement…” We wonder who she is talking about.

4. Vishal
Vishal, who is the President of the Tamil Film Producers Council posted his support on Twitter. He said ”It’s time, Women in our industry speak up & I wil stand by them. Wil form a committee to protect them”. Several people from the industry including Sai Dhanshika, Chinmayi welcomed his statement.
5. Varalakshmi
Varalakshmi was one of the first few actresses to speak about the issue. The Sarkar heroine posted “Since we are all online reading about Sarkar updates, I urge each one of u to also lend a supporting hand for the victims that are telling their stories #metoo it’s important that we shame the monsters among us n not the victims I know how difficult this must be #bestrong #timesup.”
6. Siddharth
The actor was one of the few to voice his opinion. He said ”If the accuser names herself, you say she’s doing it for attention. If the accuser stays anonymous,you question her authenticity. The identity of the accuser is not relevant. That she chose to identify her abuser publicly is! Courage & closure supercede all else. #TimesUp #MeToo”
