A. R. Reihana supports Chinmayi’s accusations on Vairamuthu

A few weeks ago singer Chinmayi accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual and professional misconduct.. She further went on to Tweet stories of Twitter users who had similar stories to share about Vairamuthu. Several actors such as Siddharth, Samantha, Vishal, music composer Ghibran went on to show their support to the singer. Now, singer and music composer, A. R. Reihana sister of veteran music composer A. R. Rahman is another celebrity to show her support to Chinmayi.
In an interview with News 7 Tamil, A. R. Reihana stated that she is happy that women like Suchi and Sri Reddy are opening up about the dark secrets of the film industry, she also went on to say that she supports Chinmayi’s decision to open up and support the Me Too Movement. She said ”I support Chinmayi, but my problem is why didn’t she do it 15 years ago? Had she done it back then, the situation would have been treated differently. Several people have told me about him, but what I don’t understand is, why these people go on to associate with him by inviting him to their wedding or falling on his feet, this is unacceptable.” She also said that she is not willing to believe that Chinmayi and her mother were scared to open up about this issue years ago since she claims them to be very strong-willed and gutsy people who wouldn’t be rattled easily.

She also went on to question why the media is only speaking about Vairamuthu and not other singers who were accused in the Me Too Movement. However, her biggest revelation is that everyone in the industry knew about Vairamuthu’s flirtatious ways and that it was an open secret. She made a contradicting point stating that her brother, A. R. Rahman didn’t know about him since he never likes to gossip or react to controversies.
