Bhagyaraj resigns as the president of SIFWA; says he faced immense pressure during Sarkar issue

In recent developments, actor/ director K. Bhagyaraj has resigned from his post as the president of the South Indian Film Writers Association President. In his letter addressed to the press, he says that he was put in ‘many uncomfortable situations’ while dealing with the Sarkar plagiarism issue. This is what he said in the letter.

“To all the members of the South Indian Film Writers Association,

With your support, I was chosen as the president of the Writers Association without a formal election. After accepting the post I worked as an honest person. Now, I dealt with the Sarkar issue with all my capabilities. While working on the issue, I was put in many uncomfortable situations. I strongly feel that the reason for it is that I was chosen as the president without an election. I would like to tell you that I will contest in the future elections and win.

I don’t want to disclose further information about this. While dealing with the Sarkar issue, I tried to speak to Murgadoss personally, and solve the issue, but he wanted to take it to court. So, I was forced to compare both the stories and reveal Sarkar’s story which is produced by Sun Pictures.

However, I now realize that I have committed a mistake by revealing the story. And I wholeheartedly express my apologies for the same.

I hereby resign from the post of President of the South Indian Writers Association.”

His son, actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj took to Twitter to state that his resignation has nothing to do with the Sarkar issue.
