I could have ended up like Savitri says Samantha

Actress Samantha is currently riding high on the success of her films Rangasthalam, Mahanati (Nadigaiyara Thilagam) and Irumbu Thirai (Abhimanyudu). The common factor is that all these films released this year, and have proved to work well at the box-office. Although Samantha did not play the lead role in Mahanati, she starred in a supporting role that won her praises. In a recent interview to a Telugu daily, the actress compared her life to late actress Savitris’.

Samantha went on to say, “Even I would have fallen into such crisis in my personal life like Savitri did. But thankfully I realised it in the beginning and walked out of the relationship as soon as I sensed that it could end up bad. And then I’m blessed to have a person like Naga Chaitanya in my life. He’s a gem of everything.” She also compared her former lover to Gemini Ganesan.

For the uninitiated, it has to be noted that Gemini Ganesan was known for marrying more than two women and having several marital affairs as well. Many say that it was Gemini Ganesan’s behavior that led to his wife Savitri’s downfall and also led to her addiction to alcohol.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati starred Keerthy Suresh playing the role of late actress Savitri who was known as India’s first female superstar. Released on 9th May 2018, the film went on to collect over 2.5 million at the box-office.
