GVM to direct Varmaa ?! What’s next for the project

The Arjun Reddy Tamil remake Varmaa has been pulled off last moment before release to everyone’s shock. This has become the talk of the town and everyone is speculating on who will be forming the new cast and crew. There are quite some rumors that Gautham Vasudev Menon might be directing it. He is ‘the’ master of making classy love stories infact Varanam Ayiram can be called as low-key Arjun reddy with a similar ‘love failure – self destruction – redemption’ kind of plot but the former is a slice of life, breezy film while the latter is raw, gritty and extremely passionate. Arjun Reddy also needs no introduction to the Tamil audience, pretty much everyone has watched it so to deliver a similar product preserving its originality and essence is indeed a mammoth task. Will GVM make a slightly toned down version high on emotions? If it is good enough might also work with the audience but it is really tough to judge the product right now.

The production house also announced that Dhruv Vikram will be retained as the protagonist. Arjun Reddy is that person who screams he’ll strip naked and run around the ground if he lets the opponent team score a goal. One look at him we should be able to feel the burning passion..that’s what Vijay Devarakonda gave us. It was hard to feel the same in Dhruv’s portrayal of the character(we saw in the teaser) he has to reinvent his process to make justice to the character.

There also talks that Jhanvi Kapoor might bag the female lead. We last saw her in Dhadak which was well received amongst the audience. It’ll be interesting to watch her pair up with Dhruv.
