Highlights from the audio launch of Petta

Share

The grand audio launch of Petta was aired on SUN TV on 9th December, with one hour delay; it aired from 6:20 pm to 9:30 pm. The hosts for the day were RJ Vigneshkanth and Nakshatra. The event kickstarted with a dance featuring songs of every lead actor/actress from the movie. The lead actors and important crew members were welcomed onto the stage to share their thoughts.

Bobby Simha, when invited onstage, shared his experience and described his awe-worthy moments of working with Thalaivar. It seems he was also present with Karthik Subbaraj when Rajini had called him for the first-time after the superstar had watched Karthik’s directorial Pizza. Since then he has been ready to do any role in Karthik Subbaraj-Superstar combo. Bobby Simha also added that no one can replicate Thalaivar’s moments and he has liked him in every role he has played. He concluded his speech by performing a dialogue from Annamalai. It has been revealed that Sasikumar is playing a character named Mailk. A lot of stars were suggested for the role, but he was the one who bagged it. When invited onstage Sasikumar expressed his admiration for Thalaivar’s humility and dedication and how he would go on to do a dance sequence for the movie even at 2:30 in the morning. As a director, he expressed his desire to direct Thalaivar one day. He concluded his speech by performing a scene from Rajinikanth’s film Thalapathy.

Vijay Sethupathi wasn’t present right from the start of the event (due to his shoot) but when he arrived the audience went frenzy. He was then invited onto the stage to share his thoughts. He said he didn’t even dream of working with Rajinikanth but it happened in real life for him. He also had a lot of praise words for the superstar but most importantly he expressed his admiration for superstar’s egoless attitude. He thanked the cast and crew member calling out their names. He was also asked to perform a Thalaivar’s dialogue but he humbly denied expressing his inability to imitate others.

After exiting Vijay Sethupathi was seated next to Trisha. It was one magic moment for the 96 fanboys and girls. They even adorably addressed each other as “Ram” and “Jaanu” while giving their speech.

The gorgeous Simran Bagga, when invited onstage, said that her career has become complete only now after sharing the screen with Thalaivar. When asked by the anchors “who is the best pair for Thalaivar” she said her own name adorably (frame this better). The incredible dancer also shook a leg for the song “Ra Ra” from Chandramukhi gracefully.

It has been revealed that Trisha has a relatively smaller role (without any songs) and would be seen in the flashback scenes. Fans are sure she would shine onscreen irrespective of the screen time she gets.

Trisha looked radiant and joyful onstage while delivering her speech. She expressed her admiration for the professional and the human being that Rajini is and felt she would be a better person even if she has even 10% of Thalaivar’s qualities.

The songs “Ulaalaa” and “Aaha Kalyanam” from the album were performed but it was Rockstar Anirudh who lit the stage with his compositions “Petta Parak” and the viral hit “Marana mass”. After his performance, he removed his coolers saying he can’t wear them in front of Thalaivar. Karthik Subbaraj called him “Thalaivar Veriyan” and he in return said Karthik is “Thalaivar mega veriyan”. Anirudh dedicated the album to all Thalaivar fans around the world and his late friend Aravind.

The entire cast can be called as Thalaivar fans but the biggest of them was obviously the captain of the ship – Karthik Subbaraj. From the moment he got onstage till he left he was having his fanboy moment. He talked about his journey – From being a software engineer to directing his idol’s film and how Thalaivar was his inspiration to enter the industry. He shared how he would feel jealous of his ADs as they got to spend more time with Thalaivar. Karthik added that he would observe all his activities on set and would cook up reasons to go talk with him. His speech was the most adorable and emotional one in the entire event.

Another worthy addition to the movie is the great talent from Bollywood Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He didn’t have much to speak as he doesn’t know the language but he expressed that he has never seen such a joyous audio launch event and it was as eventful as a Filmfare award function.

At last, it was the most awaited moment of the day. It was time for Thalaivar to get on stage..the thunderous roars of his fans took a while to cease. Some bits from his speech

“Tamilnadu la Indha padatha shoot pana mudiadhu.. Yen Inga anbu tholla

“Na Paatha Nalla actor .. Avar saadharana nadigan ila.. Maga nadigan. Rombha nalaiku apram oru Nala nadigan oda nadicha anubavam kuduthaaru ” – about Vijay Sethupathi

“Thangamana manidhar.. Indha maari kedaikuma.. Kozhandhaiku dhaadi meesa valandha maari oruthar” – about Sasikumar

“Ena 90s ku kondu poitaanga” – about Karthik Subbaraj

Ivanga apo irundha Madhiri eppavume irukanga” – about Trisha

Every cast and crew member had a warm smile on their face when Thalaivar was talking about them. “Cut down the extras. Extra sleep, extra eating, extra talking, extra advising” was his philosophy for the day.
