The US and Indian premier of Imaikka Nodigal have been canceled

Director R. Ajay Gnanamuthu‘s film Imaikka Nodigal which was ready for release today (30th August) is currently stuck at the end of the tunnel. Starring Nayanthara, Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Atharvaa and Raashi Khanna, the US premier shows which was supposed to be held on 29th August was first cancelled stating KDM issues. On the day of its premiere in India, the shows in Tamil Nadu have been canceled stating the same reason.
The official US distributor of the film, US Tamil LLC took to their Twitter page to post. #ImaikaaNodigal KDM not received.. We apologize for the inconvenience. There seems to be a bit delay in the Production Clearance. We are closely following up with the Qube. Hope it will be resolved soon!

Meanwhile, the executive director of the Chennai theatre Nikhilesh Surya Tweeted about the uncertainty of Tamil cinema’s financial woes. He also questioned if Producer Union will help rectify this.

For the uninitiated, KDM an acronym for Key Delivery Message. It is a special electronic key that contains a code which is required to unlock an encrypted film. A KDM is usually sent to theatres, after which the film begins.
However, some state that there is a financial issue between the producer and distributors due to which the shows have been cancelled.
