Kaala Audio Launch Event Photo

The audio launch of Rajinikanth’s Kaala took place in Chennai on the evening of May 9th and needless to say it was a grand affair. Composed by Santosh Narayanan, the music of the film was released across digital platforms yesterday morning, it was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kaala also stars Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, Anjali Patel and Easwari Rao among others. Missed the grand launch? Worry not, as we bring you some highlights from the glitzy event.

1. The music director Santosh Narayanan performed live on stage. He crooned to songs such as Katravai Patravai and NIkkal Nikkal. Singer Shankar Mahadevan also performed to the song Thanga Sela.

2. Director Pa Ranjith said ”Magizhchi. I thank Rajini sir for the opportunity once again after Kabali. The Rajinikanth I have interacted with is intense, humble and emotional. Kaala is a commercial film and Rajini sir’s voice in the film is powerful. It had to be used for something productive.”

3. Producer Dhanush said ”I am happy to have been able to do that until now, Kaala is our 12th film.
When we decided to invite people for Kaala, I asked Rajini sir, if we had to invite people who had spoken ill about us as well. He said ‘Everyone are our people’. I learnt the quality of forgiveness from him. His journey – ‘a villain, a hero, a star, Superstar, thalaivar and tomorrow… I am waiting like you all to see what happens. This is a film not produced by actor Dhanush, but by Venkatesh Prabhu, the fan.

4. Rajinikanth said ” This doesn’t feel like an audio launch function. It feels like a film’s success meet.

My only dream has been to unite the south Indian rivers. I would die peacefully if that happens. I tried doing it in Lingaa but the film didn’t succeed. People have been criticizing me for the last 40 years, but I did not pay attention. When Rajith initially approached me I was hesitant to sign the script, during that time director Vetrimaaran approached me with a political script but I was hesitant to sign it due to the political inclination. So I called Ranjith again and we now have Kaala. I have two most memorable villains – Baasha’s Antony and Padayappa’s Neelambari, now it will be Nana Patekar.

5. About his political ambition, ” My friends from the media think that I haven’t spoken about the most important thing. But I can tell you that the time will come when I can speak about it. Salute TN, Jai Hind.

Tell us what you think about the songs of Kaala.
