The India Day parade, that brings people of diverse communities of Indian origin together was held in New York on 19th August. It marks the largest parade outside India, which is held to celebrate India’s Independence Day.
Kamal Haasan was the grand marshal at the event, while his daughter Shruti Haasan was the guest of honour. The duo were all smiles as the parade through Manhattan.
Kamal Haasan also took to the stage to speak to the attendees. Upon insistence from cheering fans, Kamal Haasan also spoke in Tamil. While Shruti Haasan sang the Vande Mataram song. Kamal Haasan was also accompanied by his Vishwaroopam co-star Pooja Kumar.

The 38th India Day Parade, organised by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) — New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, ran through the streets of Madison Avenue in Manhattan. The theme of the event was “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which translates to “the world is one family.”
It featured a tableaux by various Indian-American organisations, marching bands, police contingents and cultural performances by young Indian-American children.
