Kollywood celebrities offer relief fund to flood affected Kerala

Nearly 59 thousand people have been reported homeless, and 29 deaths have been reported, as Kerala is witnessing one of the worst rains to have hit the state. Due to the incessant rain, dam reservoirs have crossed the maximum storage capacity. This led to the opening of the Idukki reservoir. Chief Minister Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote in a statement “The calamity has caused immeasurable misery and devastation. Many lives were lost. Hundreds of homes were totally destroyed,”. Owning to this natural disaster, Tamil movie actors are taking to their social media to urge their fans and followers to do their bit for their neighbouring state Kerala.
Brothers Suriya and Karthi have jointly donated a sum of 25 lakhs. Their statement said “It’s turning out to be a much Heart-wrenching scenario to see the paradisiacal landscapes of Idukki, Aaluva, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad are ravaged with mountainous slopes sliding and lands submerged in waters”.
Kamal Haasan and Vijay Television have donated 50 lakhs (25 lakhs each). Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan took to his social media page to thank Kamal Haasan, along with a picture of the actor and him in Kerala, before he launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam.
Actors Siddharth, Sivakarthikeyan took to their social media pages to appeal to their followers to donate and help Kerala.
Tollywood actors Allu Arjun and Vijay Deverakonda have donated 25 lakhs and 5 lakhs respectively.
The South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA) or Nadigar Sangam have donated 5 lakhs. The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) have donated Rs 10 lakh.

Not just them, even Mollywood actors Mammootty and Mohanlal also appealed to their followers. Actor Mohanlal has donated Rs 25 lakhs to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) towards the Kerala floods.
Actors Jayasurya, Prithviraj, Aashiq Abu, Manju Warrier, Jayaram also requested their followers to help the Kerala flood victims.
