Mohanlal - Mahabharat

About a year ago it was announced that India is set to make its most expensive film, on a 1,000 crore rupee budget which will be based on the Malayalam novel Randamoozham, a popular Malayalam novel based on the Mahabharata. Now, it looks like the film has run into troubled waters even before its inception. It is reported that the writer of the film M T Vasudevan Nair has filed a suit at demanding the return of his script for the movie ‘Mahabharatam’ based on his bestseller novel Randamoozham. This is because the script of the movie was given to director V A Shrikumar Menon by M T Vasudevan about four years ago, and nothing has begun.

Speaking to the New Indian Express, the film’s producer, UAE Billionaire BR Shetty says “ I won’t be joining with M T Vasudevan Nair again as he has already gone to court demanding his script back. I cannot court controversies by producing a movie on that script.” asked if he will still be making the film he said ”I will produce a movie on Mahabharatha. It is my dream project,” He also said that A-list actors and international technicians will be roped in for the movie. The film will release globally in 2020. Mohanlal was roped in to play Bhimaa in the film.

Currently, India’s most expensive film is director Shankar’s 2.0 starring Superstar Rajinikanth which has been made on a budget of 400–543 crores.
