Mammootty’s Kottayam Kunjachan 2 to begin soon

At the 100 day celebration of the film Aadu, director Midhun Manuel Thomas announced that he plans to make the sequel to the popular 1990 film Kottayam Kunjachan that starred Mammootty in the lead. And everyone was excited. Mammootty even took to his social media to announce the news. Trouble soon hit paradise when the producer M Mani and director T S Suresh Babu of the original film refused to give the rights to the original film. However, things seem to have taken a turn now, as all issues have been resolved. Kottayam Kunjachan 2 will go on floors very soon.

Directed by T. S. Suresh Babu, Kottayam Kunjachan was written by Dennis Joseph based on the novel by Muttathu Varkey. The film revolved around an ex-thug who was fresh out of jail. The film was set against the Kottayam-Syrian Christian backdrop in Kerala, where all the characters spoke the native Kottayam dialect. It was the first time audience saw Mammootty play a comic avatar in a film. After the announcement of the sequel Mammootty’s son, actor Dulquer Salmaan took to social media to share his excitement; his post read “Ashaaaaneeeeee Joshi Chadhichu !OMG ! The most iconic Kottayam Kunjachan is getting a sequel !!!! Woohooooooo,”
