Odiyan is all set to create history!

Actor Mohanlal‘s Odiyan is the most-anticipated film in Malayalam cinema at the moment. Directed by Ad filmmaker-turned-director V. A. Shrikumar Menon, the film is based on the legend of Odiyan, a character in the Malayalam folklore who have shapeshifting abilities, and takes the form of an animal. Apart from Mohanlal, the film stars Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier in pivotal roles. According to the writer of the film Harikrishna, back in the days, every village had one Odiyan family, who were paid to scare people. There is a popular belief that they also had supernatural abilities.

Now, this highly-anticipated film is all set to create history. How one may ask? If reports are to be believed, Odiyan is said to release in 3000 to 4000 screens worldwide. If this is true, then Odiyan will be the first film in the history of Malayalam cinema to release on this humongous scale. The film has already created hype as the Hindi dubbing and satellite rights for Odiyan have been sold for a whopping Rs 3.25 crore.

The film has been produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and will hit screens on 14th December.
