Shamili returns to Telugu cinema with Ammamma gari illu

Actress Shamili who was last seen in the Telugu film Oye! in 2009, is set to make a comeback in Telugu cinema with her latest film Ammamma Gari Illu. Directed by Sunder Surya, the film is touted to be a family entertainer, which will focus on a nuclear family and a joint family. The plot is said to be a hero-centric one, as the lead actor will help solve a dispute in the family. Shamili will be seen pairing up with actor Naga Shaurya for the first time.

Known as Baby Shamili, the actress is an award-winning child artist who has featured in over 40 films. Her most popular film to date is Anjali (1990) which was directed by Mani Ratnam. The film won her National Film Award for Best Child Artist and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Child Artist. She also won the Kerala State Film Award for her role in Malootty and the Karnataka State Film Award for her role in Mathe Haditu Kogile. After her appearance in Oye! the actress took a sabbatical and concentrated on her education in Singapore.

In 2015 and 2016 she appeared in the Malayalam and Tamil films Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti and Veera Sivaji respectively. Baby Shamili is the sister of actress Shalini who is married to actor Ajith Kumar.
