Who is Sri Reddy and why is she in the news?

In the backdrop of the ‘Mee Too’ moment that shook Hollywood and got the world talking about the sexual assault that happens to them, Sri Reddy began her outrage by claiming that some of the biggest names in the industry have taken a favor from leading heroines promising them films. She indirectly named director Sekhar Kammula, as a someone who ‘used’ heroines for his benefit. The director was quick to slam her and respond saying he would sue her as her claim was baseless.
Who is Sri Reddy to ‘expose’ these claims you may ask? Sri Reddy is a tv presenter-turned-actress revealed these in a television interview. According to Sri Reddy’s ‘stats’, about 90 percent of the women in the film industry have faced the horror of casting couch. Telugu news channels also discussed this news in the prime tv slot which even led to anchor E Sambashiva Rao questioning actor Posani Murali Krishna if “brokers” and “whores” weren’t present in the film industry. Later, in an event hosted by Movie Artistes Association actress Rakul Preet slammed her and said she didn’t go through the evils of the casting couch. Sri Reddy also mentioned that director Boyapati Srinu should start giving taking to Telugu heroines in his films, rather than using ‘imported’ heroines of other states.
The controversy surrounding Sri Reddy has now intensified as she recently stripped outside the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Sri Reddy claims to have done it in order to protest against the casting couch She was arrested for creating public nuisance.
Apart from receiving brickbats from everyone, the actress has managed to win the attention of director Ram Gopal Varma. He tweeted that people in Mumbai are talking about her and that she has become a ‘National celebrity’.
