Yesterday the AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) decided to take back Dileep in the association. It has to be remembered that Dileep was expelled after his arrest in the actress abduction case. Now, a day after, the decision has drawn criticism. The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) have condemned the move.

In their Facebook post, WCC has asked AMMA if they didn’t find it inappropriate to re-induct a person who is accused of conspiring a crime against a woman. They said stated how AMMA’s decision is an insult to the survivor.

Not just WCC, director and producer Aashiq Abu too questioned their decision of bringing back Dileep. In his post, he asked why actor Thilakan, who expelled from the association for speaking his mind, was never included.

Writer N. S. Madhavan called Malayalam actors ‘male chauvinist pigs of Malayalam actors’. In his Tweet he said, Worst #Metoo incident happened not in Hollywood, but in Kerala when an actor allegedly paid money to a gang to get an actress raped. The case is on, but male chauvinist pigs of Malayalam actors’ guild, AMMA, are shouting ‘me too’ ‘me too’ in support of the accused! ?‍♀️

Actors such as Prithviraj and Ramya Nameesan, who previously voiced their views on the arrest of Dileep, remained silent over the issue. AMMA’s new president Mohanlal too remained silent.
