The third edition of the North American Film Awards will be held in New York and Toronto

The North American FIlm Awards also known as NAFA, which is one of the most prestigious awards show which honours talent from the Malayalam film industry. With over 20 award categories, each nominee is eligible to receive multiple nominations for several projects. The NAFA aims at recognising not just established talent but rising stars of the present generation. Started by Houston-based company Freedia Entertainment, is a film production and distribution company focused on Malayalam films. They also promote stage shows of Bollywood and South Indian events and awards around the USA and Europe.

Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Freemu Varghese (Founder & Chairman) and Annie Libu (NAFA Director) promised that this year NAFA would be bigger and better than before. Dr. Varghese also added that they were proud of hosting it in America.

The NAFA for Malayalam films was held in 2016 New York. The second edition was held in the same city in the year 2017. This year, the award will be held on July 1st and 2nd at New York and Toronto respectively. The online votes for this year’s awards decide the names of winners. While Fahadh Faasil and Dulquer Salmaan have been chosen as Best Actor (Critics) and Best Actor (Popular) respectively. Parvathy and Manju Warrier have been chosen as Best Actor Female (Critic) and Best Actor Female (Popular) respectively.
