Tollywood Sex Scandal: How two film producers lured Telugu heroines for prostitution
Share
In a shocking new investigation carried out by federal agents in the United States of America, it has been revealed that two former Telugu film producers lured Tollywood heroines on the pretext of attending cultural events in the U.S and eventually involve them in prostitution.
Who was targeted by the producers?
The film producers Kishan Modugumudi and his wife, Chandra, arranged for Tollywood heroines, who were in extremely popular with few films, but were fading away gradually. They also targeted young and upcoming actresses.
How was the crime busted?
In November 2017, Immigration officers questioned an actress who said she is attending an event in the country. Upon checking, the organizers of the event said that they were unfamiliar with the actress. On further investigation, she apparently stated that her visit to the United States was arranged by a man named “Raju”, who officers say was an alternate name of Mr. Modugumudi.
Who are the actresses who were involved?
The identity of the victims is not known. However, several in the Tollywood film industry believe that they are the ones who are new to the industry and are in desperate need of a break.
A few months ago, Sri Reddy, a Telugu film actress began stripping in public, naming and shaming the Telugu film industry on her social media. She did this to help bring awareness about the casting couch which is prevalent in the film industry. This was similar to the #MeeToo movement which was sparked in Hollywood, however, none of the Telugu film heroines spoke against the casting couch or the sexual exploitation that was prevalent in the industry. Several industry insiders believe that this may be because heroines fear losing out of opportunities.
