Mahanati is the only Telugu film to be featured in the Indian Panorama section of IFFI 2018

Mahanati has been selected for the Indian Panorama section of the 49th International Film Festival (IFFI), Goa which will take place on November 20 to 28. This makes it the only Telugu film to feature in the list. Featuring Keerthy Suresh in the lead, the film was based on the life of yesteryear superstar Savitri. It was directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt, Swapna Dutt, Priyanka Dutt under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. The film won Keerthy Suresh praises for her performance and her uncanny resemblance to Savitri.
The film festival will also feature four Tamil films – Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal, Ram’s Peranbu, Chezhiyan’s Tolet and Siva Chelvan’s Baaram. So far, only Pariyerum Perumal has had a theatrical release. The film opened to rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Among the Malayalam films, National award-winning director Shaji N Karun’s Olu will be the opening film of the festival. Other films include Bhayanakam (Jayaraj), Makkana (Raheem Khader), Poomaram (Abrid Shine), Sudani From Nigeria (Zakariya) and Ee.Ma.Yau (Lijo Jose Pellissery).
The 12-member jury consists of actor and director Major Ravi, director Ahathian and director, producer Ujjwal Chatterjee among others.
Organized by the Films Division, Government of India, IFFI began in the year 1952 under the patronage of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
