Director Shankar, 2.0‘s antagonist Akshay Kumar, and the film’s Hindi presenter Karan Johar, are currently promoting the magnum-opus film in Mumbai. Speaking to NDTV’s Rohit Khilnani, Shankar opened about his strategy of promoting the film. When Khilnani asked Shankar, if he will speak more about the film, director Shankar said that he likes to retain an element of surprise in it. He said ”See, it’s simple. I treat myself as an audience first. When I go to the theatre and enjoy. I want that magic to happen, where the excitement is there”.
When Akshay Kumar asked if this strategy should continue, he said he’s not sure. Later, Karan Johar said, that it is essential to retain the suspense for 2.0. Shankar went on to say that he has done this for all his films, but despite this, he is still trying to open up a little more about the film. He also insisted that it is essential to reveal a little information to the audience and withhold some information. He said ”whenever I see a film, I try to tell the story, but the person says please don’t tell us the story”
2.0 is the sequel to the film Enthiran (2010), which became the top-earning Indian film of 2010. In 2.0 Rajinikanth will once again reprise his roles as Dr. Vasigaran and Chitti the robot.
