4 Films expected to release on Onam 2018

For Malayalees, Onam is a festival that brings in a new year full of positivity and marks the beginning month of the Malayalam calendar. To mark this auspicious occasion, the Malayalam film industry churns out some amazing films every year. This year is no exception. From Mammootty to Fahad Faasil, here’s a list of actors who are set to take over our screens with their films this year.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog

Mammootty’s third release this year, Oru Kuttanadan Blog has been directed by scriptwriter-turned-director Sethu. When the first look poster of Mammootty’s Oru Kuttanadan Blog released on social media, it garnered the attention of fans as it featured Mammuka in a simple yet interesting avatar. The movie stars popular heroines – Raai Laxmi, Anu Sithara and Shamna Kasim.

Kayamkulam Kochunni

One of the most anticipated films of this year is Kayamkulam Kochunni. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and starring Nivin Pauly in the lead, this is set to be a period drama with a cameo appearance by none other than Mohanlal.

Padayottam

Said to be a dark comedy based on the life of a gangster, Padayottam has been directed by Rafeek Ibrahim and stars Biju Menon in the leading role. Padayottam also stars Anu Sithara, Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Lijo Jose Pellissery, and Harish Kanaran.

Varathan

Said to be an intense and hard-hitting thriller, Varathan has been directed by Amal Neerad and stars Fahad Faasil and Aishwarya Lekshmi in leading roles. The film is said to revolve around Fahad and his motive to avenge those to caused harm to his family. It has to be noted that Amal Neerad and Fahad Faasil have previously worked on Iyobinte Pusthakam. It won the National Award for Best Cinematography.
