• Born to film actor Sivakumar, Suriya first worked at a garment exports company, as he didn’t have interest in acting.
• He made his debut in the Nerrukku Ner, alongside Vijay which was produced by Mani Ratnam.
• This was followed by his appearance in films such as Poovellam Kettuppar, Friends and Unnai Ninaithu.
• However, Suriya‘s breakthrough was Bala‘s Nandha where he played the role of an ex-convict.
• Following this Suriya went on to establish his stardom with Gautham Menon‘s Kaakha Kaakha. This further led him to work in a variety of roles in films such as Pithamagan, Perazhagan and Aaytha Ezhuthu.
• Suriya then went on to become one of Kollywood‘s biggest stars with films such as Ghajini, Vaaranam Aayiram, Ayan, Aadhavan and Singam which capitalized his fame and made him a bankable star.
• Suriya now owns the production company 2D entertainments. He is married to Jyothika. The couple have two kids names Diya and Dev.
• Suriya is currently shooting for NGK, which is directed by Selvaraghavan.
