Abrahaminte Santhathikal Official Trailer

The great actor can now breathe a sigh of relief. Hands down, the best movie of Mammootty in recent months.‌ Unlike his recent movies which received mixed reviews, Abrahaminte Santhathikal stands apart as an example of an acting that is at ease coupled with a solid script and skilled direction.

The movie develops as a crime thriller, like the Police movies in the 90s with twists and keeps the audience guessing.
Two murders in a sequence, which is akin to the serial killer murders in Hollywood cinema is the crux. Derek Abraham, a bachelor, is the most suited guy for the investigation and is successful, but all is not well for the officer. Philip, his brother is framed for a murder and Derek has to find the real culprit with the whole world against him. The movie has dramatic scenes that are the essential of a police story. The script has expoited the idea of the supposed friend turning into foe and makes Mamooty a pillar of Justice.

The skill of the director is evident in converting a detective story, which might seem familiar into something more personal and engaging. The veteran actor’s police roles are always well received. The theatre was in a roar when Mammootty entered. Anson Paul, who plays the role of Philip, Derek’s brother has given a convincing performance. Kaniha, Makbool Salman, Ranji Panicker and Siddique has also stayed true to their roles.

How the camera and the choreography made the movie more interesting should also be noted. Haneef Adeni, who directed the movie, The Great Father, has penned the script that is contemporary. The movie has also taken into consideration the sentiments of the actor’s huge fan base and is filled with mass dialogues and action sequences.

The first half might feel a slow for the hardcore fans but the slow build up was necessary for the fast paced second half. ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal‘ focusses on family more than a centric hero who throws punches. Mammootty often does the role of an elder brother quite smoothly and this too, isn’t an exception. ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal‘ makes the actor both realistic and with mass and he earns a well deserved praise.
