Here’s what Priya Prakash Varrier has to say about her controversial film Sridevi Bungalow

The trailer of Wink girl Priya Prakash Varrier’s Hindi debut Sridevi Bungalow has found itself in controversy. Late actress Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor had sent a legal notice to the team, demanding them to remove the late actress’ name from the title and remove other scenes which resemble her life. Director of the film, Prashanth’s said ”We sent him a reply explaining that Sridevi was a common name and there was no logic in objecting to it. It is just a coincidence that my movie tells the tale of an actress named Sridevi,”.

Priya Prakash also defended the director’s statement, she said “Sridevi is just the name of my character in the movie. Who would want to create such controversies? I think the curiosity surrounding the trailer is good and we have to leave it to the audience to judge if the film is based on the veteran actress Sridevi ma’m.” While she is happy about the trailer getting released and generating interest, it is unfortunate, in her opinion, that it has courted controversy.

The trailer created controversy as it featured a scene in which the actress is drowning in a bathtub, which is similar to Sridevi’s death.

Priya Prakash is currently awaiting the release of her Malayalam film ‘Oru Aadhar Love’.
