Diwali is around the corner and this means only one thing – the festivities will set in soon. Apart from the lighting some crackers and gorging on food, people also look forward to watching movies on the festival. In Tamil this year, there will be not one or two but three films which will battle it out. It’s going to be Vijay vs. Karthi this Diwali! Want to know more? Read on to find out.

Bigil

Archana Kalpathi, the producer of Bigil took to her social media account yesterday to announce that Bigil will release on Diwali. She tweeted “#Bigil is our dream project. We have given it our heart and soul. Our #Thalapathy gave close to 150 days of his dates and we shot for 200 days almost without break. Over 400 technicians have worked on this film. There were almost 1000 ppl on set for 80% of the film”, she further went on to tweet “The wait is over and let the games begin Our Thalapathy’s #Bigil produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram will hit screens worldwide this Deepavali @Atlee_dir @actorvijay #Nayanthara @arrahman @Ags_production 🙏🙏🙏”

Directed by Atlee, Bigil stars Vijay in the lead. The film will see him play the role of a coach, who leads a women’s all football team. Nayanthara plays the leading lady in the film.

Kaithi

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Kaithi stars Karthi in the lead. The film will take place in jail. It was completed in a duration of 62 nights. Interestingly Lokesh will direct Vijay’s 64th film.

Initially, Vijay Sethupathi’s Sanga Tamizh was also set to release on Diwali. However, it is now out of the race.
