All you need to know about director Rathish Ambat

Rajiv Menon, Pradeep Sarkar, Balki, Gauri Shinde and Aashiq Abu – what’s common between all these popular names in the film industry? They all began their career by directing ad films. Now, director Rathish Ambat is another ad director-turning-film director with his debut Malayalam film Kammara Sambhavam. The film has been scripted by actor-writer Murali Gopy and stars Dileep in the lead role.

Rathish Ambat has been an associate of filmmakers like Lal Jose, Blessy and Shyamaprasad. Despite the experience of working with some of the best filmmakers, and directing a dozen ad films, Rathish Ambat took time to make his film debut as he wanted to work on the right script. It is reported that Rathish Ambat and Murali Gopy began the discussion of working on a film together back in 2004. Later, Murali Gopy began working in films, while Rathish Ambat was shining in the ad world. His ad film for Kerala tourism fetched him a silver at the Golden Gate awards at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB-Berlin) – 2015. The award is considered to be the Oscars of the tourism industry.

The shoot of the film began in August 2016 and was supposed to wrap up. However, the shoot didn’t progress since the lead actor of the film, Dileep was arrested in an assault case. The film resumed when the actor was later released on bail. The film stars some of the most notable names in the film industry including Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Namitha Pramod, Murali Gopy, Shraddha Srinath, Shweta Menon and Kenny Basumatary.

Kammara Sambhavam has been produced by Gokulam Gopalan under his banner Sree Gokulam Movies. The music of the film has been composed by Gopi Sunder. The film is set to release in the month of April 2018.
