SIIMA 2023: RRR, Ponniyin Selvan 1, Kantara, and Bheeshma Parvam Lead Nominations for Best Film

SIIMA, the South Indian International Movie Awards, stands as one of the most popular film awards shows in the country. Each year, this prestigious ceremony recognizes the finest achievements within the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries.
The much-awaited announcement has been made, and the PAN Indian blockbuster, “RRR,” featuring the talents of Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, has earned an astounding 11 nominations, making it the highest for any Telugu movie this year. Following closely behind with 10 nominations is the classic love story, “Sita Raman.” The contenders for the “Best Telugu Film Award 2023” are “RRR,” “Sita Ramam,” “DJ Tillu,” “Karthikeya 2,” and “Major.”
In the Tamil category, Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan 1” leads the nomination race with 10 nods, while Kamal Haasan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s “Vikram” secure the second spot with 9 nominations. The contenders for the “Best Tamil Film Award 2023” include “Ponniyin Selvan 1,” “Vikram,” “Love Today,” “Thiruchithrambalam,” and “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.”
Moving on to Sandalwood (Kannada cinema), “Kantara” and “KGF 2” jointly occupy the top position with 11 nominations each. The contenders for the “Best Kannada Film Award 2023” are “Kantara,” “KGF 2,” “777 Charlie,” “Love Mocktail 2,” and “Vikrant Rona.”
In Mollywood (Malayalam cinema), Mammootty’s “Bheeshma Parvam” receives nominations in 8 categories, while Tovino Thomas starrer “Thallumaala” garners 7 nominations. Competing for the “Best Malayalam Film Award 2023” are “Bheeshma Parvam,” “Thallumaala,” “Hridayam,” “Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey,” “Jana Gana Mana,” and “Nna Thaan Case Kodu.”
