When Vikram began working with director Bala for his film Sethu, his son Dhruv Vikram (1999) was only a six-month-old baby. The film went on to establish Vikram in the Tamil film industry. It also won the National award for Best Film. Now, director Bala is launching Vikram’s son Dhruv in the Tamil film industry. Life takes a full circle, isn’t it? Titled Varma, the film is a remake of the super hit Telugu film Arjun Reddy which was directed by Sandeep Vanga. The teaser of the film was launched in Chennai with the cast and crew of the film attending the event. Speaking at the launch, Dhruv said that it was his Dubsmash videos which landed in him a role in the film, as producer Mukesh first noticed it. He also said that he was pursuing his education in the US when he received this film offer. The 19-year-old also said ’’Bala uncle gave life to my dad with Sethu and now, he is giving me a new lease of life with Varma”. He also added that he was very nervous to speak at his first public event. The lead actress, Megha spoke about how Dhruv is a very good actor but a better human being.
Speaking at the launch, Vikram said that there were several young heroes who were keen on staring in the remake of Arjun Reddy, and thanked the producer for picking Dhruv. He also went on to say very early on he had decided that Dhruv would be launched only in Bala’s film. Producer Mukesh (E4 Entertainments) said this is the first remake in director Bala’s career and that he is launching a debut actor for the first time. Director Bala said that working with Dhruv has been a wonderful experience and unlike his father, it’s quite easy to work with Dhruv.
Varma also stars Eswari Rao and Raiza Wilson. It music of the film has been composed by the Arjun Reddy music director Radhan.
