Mahesh Babu made his acting debut in the year 1999 with the film Raja Kumarudu, and since then he has worked in 24 films. The dashing actor is now working on his 25th film. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film has been titled Maharishi, and Mahesh Babu’s name in the film is Rishi. Tollywood’s three popular producers Dil Raju, Ashwini Dutt, and PVP are producing this film which is said to revolve the life of an NRI. As he begins working on his 25th film, we trace some of his biggest hits which made him the prince of Tollywood.

Okkadu (2003)

For Tamil audience, Vijay’s fast and racy thriller Ghilli, is one of his bests. Interestingly, the film was a remake of Mahesh Babu’s Okkadu. The film anchored Mahesh Babu as one of the bigger stars in Tollywood during the early years of his career. The racy film directed by Gunasekhar also starred Bhumika and Prakash Raj.

Athadu (2005)

One of Mahesh Babu’s biggest hits, Athadu revolved around a hit man played by Mahesh Babu. Directed by Trivikram, this action-entertainer went on to win three Nandi Awards. Mahesh Babu’s chemistry with his on-screen pair Trisha was also highly appreciated.

Pokiri (2006)

If there is one Mahesh Babu film which has been remade in over three languages then it is Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film won four Nandi Awards and two Filmfare Awards. It was remade in Tamil as Pokiri starring Vijay, in Hindi as Wanted starring Salman Khan and in Kannada as Porki starring Darshan. The film saw a flamboyant Mahesh Babu, who had a boyish charm to his character. The surprise element of Mahesh Babu’s character made it one of the biggest strengths of this film.

Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (2013)

Directed by Srikanth Addala, this family drama starred Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. What made the film an instant hit is how the film traced the relationship shared between siblings, and how a family stays together during difficult times.

Srimanthudu (2015)

What happens when a millionaire decides to trace his roots and do his bit for the welfare of his village? It makes for an interesting and off-beat story that became a massive box-office hit. Directed by Koratla Siva, Mahesh Babu’s role was quite different from his other films. It had the right amount of action and the perfect amount of drama.
