Vijay's Film Leo Over Alleged Drug Promotion - Naa Ready

Controversy Surrounds Vijay’s Film “Leo” as First Single Allegedly Promotes Drug Abuse

Vijay’s upcoming film “Leo” has found itself embroiled in controversy over its first single, titled “Naa Ready.” A social activist from Chennai has accused the song and Vijay of promoting drug usage. The activist has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, citing the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and urging action against Vijay.

Previously, the song had already faced criticism from Anbumani Ramadoss, the president of the Pattali Makkal Katchi party and a Member of Parliament, who condemned Vijay for glorifying smoking in the song. Anbumani appealed to Vijay to refrain from featuring smoking scenes in his projects.

While the official video song of “Naa Ready” is yet to be released, the lyric video contains stills that depict Vijay smoking a cigarette while dancers in the background hold beer mugs. The song’s lyrics include lines like “Milli ulla ponnam podhum, Ghill veliya varuvaan paar” (When alcohol goes inside, Ghilli will come out).

Interestingly, the same social activist, RTI Selvam, previously filed a similar complaint against Kamal Haasan’s film “Vikram,” which was also directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. However, “Vikram” turned out to be a film that addressed the issue of drug abuse, focusing on a former secret agent battling a drug mafia. Now, with “Leo,” rumored to be part of Kamal Haasan’s “Vikram” universe, facing similar accusations, the controversy intensifies.

“Leo,” set to release on October 19, boasts an ensemble cast including Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Mysskin, Gautham Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Sany in prominent roles. Anirudh Ravichander, who also worked on “Vikram,” serves as the music composer for the film. This project marks Vijay’s second collaboration with director Lokesh, following their successful partnership in the blockbuster film “Master.”
