Keerthy Suresh to play Savitri again?

This year, actress Keerthy Suresh enthralled the audiences with her awe-worthy performance as the late actress Savitri in her film Mahanati (Telugu) and Nadigaiyar Thilagam (Tamil). Now, the actress will once again step into the shoes of the iconic actress Savitri. It has been reported that Keerthy Suresh will play Savitri’s role in the NTR biopic. Directed by Krish, the NTR biopic stars Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the role of his late father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

It has to be remembered that NTR and Savitri went on to deliver several hit films together, including Patala Bhairavi (1951), Pelli Chesi Choodu (1952), Missamma (1955) and Kalasi Vunte Kaladu Sukham (1961) among others. Therefore it is no surprise that the NTR biopic would feature scenes which recreate NTR and Savitri’s on-screen performances.

One of the most-awaited Telugu biopics, the NTR biopic is produced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nan Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri. The film is said to feature other popular actors including Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati, Sumanth and Mohan Babu. The film was launched in the presence of the Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India. It was initially set to be directed by Teja, however, due to the creative difference, he opted out.
