After 38 years, Rajinikanth becomes Kaali for Petta

The first song from Superstar Rajinikanth‘s Petta is here! Going by the fantastic beats of the ‘Marana Mass’ song, the ‘koothu paathu’ sung by Anirudh Ravichandran and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, is sure to top the charts. Composed by Anirudh Ravichandran, and lyrics by Vivek, the lyric video also shows glimpses from the recording of the song which features talented musicians playing different types of drums. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam sings the first song in most of Rajinikanth’s films. The recent exceptions were Kabali and Kaala.

It is also revealed in the video that Rajinikanth’s name in the film is Kaali. In the video, Rajinikanth says ”Paakadhane pore, indha kaali oda aatatai” (You are going to witness Kaali’s dance). We’re sure the crowd is going to erupt in the theatres when Rajinikanth says these lines in the film. The video also revealed that Rajinikanth’s name in the film is Kaali.

Kaali after 38 years!

This isn’t the first time, Rajinikanth’s name in a film is Kaali. His names in the films Mullum Malarum (1978) and Kali (1980) was also Kaali. Not just that, he also appeared as Kaalimuthu in the 1984 film Kai Kodukkum Kai.

This is one hit factor that’s sure to excite fans!

Petta will release on Pongal 2019. The film will clash with Ajith’s Viswasam, Simbu’s Vandha Raaja Vadhan Varuven, and RJ Balaji’s LKG. Read more about these releases here.
